Terms of Service

Piper is a voice-first practice tool. You provide a job description and your resume, Piper conducts a realistic spoken mock interview with you through your browser, and afterward it generates a written feedback report that evaluates how you did and suggests how to improve.

Piper’s feedback is generated by automated systems for your own preparation. It is not a real interview and is not a prediction or promise of how any real interview will go. We say more about this in Section 8.

The service is delivered through a web application. We may add, change, or remove features over time as the product evolves.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to use Piper. Piper is for your individual, personal use; it is not for resale and an account may not be shared.

You sign in either with a one-time link sent to your email address or with your Google account — there is no password. You are responsible for keeping the email or Google account you use to sign in secure, and for all activity that occurs under your Piper account. If you suspect unauthorized use, notify us promptly at support@vantumworks.io.

• Consumable purchases. Piper is sold as one-time purchases of a fixed number of interview credits — not a subscription. Each credit entitles you to one mock interview. Our current options are a Single (1 mock interview, $29), Warm-up (3 mock interviews, $69), Full Loop (5 mock interviews, $99), and Intensive (10 mock interviews, $159). Prices and sizes may change; the price shown at checkout is the price that applies to that purchase.
• Card collected at purchase. Payment is processed by our payment processor (Stripe) through a hosted checkout page. A valid payment method is required to make a purchase, and you can’t start an interview without an available credit. We don’t receive or store your full card number.
• Expiry. Credits expire a set period after purchase (currently 30 days). Expired credits cannot be used and are not refundable or extendable. The expiry is shown at checkout and in your account.
• Interview length varies; up to about 30 minutes is the maximum. How long a mock interview runs depends on your responses and how the conversation develops, and many run shorter than the maximum. It lasts up to about 30 minutes at most; if it ends earlier — for example, when the conversation reaches a natural close — we owe you no additional time, credit, or money, and we do not guarantee any minimum length.
• Pausing and resuming. You can pause an interview and resume it later without using an additional credit; the length maximum applies to the interview as a whole, across all of its sittings. A paused interview stays resumable for 7 days from the moment it was first started (not from when it was last paused). After that window it is completed automatically: your feedback report is generated from what was covered, and the credit is settled. An automatic completion is not a failure on our side and is not refundable under the section below.
• No “unlimited.” Every purchase is a fixed, published number of mock interviews. We do not market Piper as unlimited.
• Discount codes. We may offer discount codes you can enter at checkout. Codes are subject to their own terms and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.
• Taxes. Listed prices don’t include taxes. You’re responsible for any applicable sales, use, VAT, or similar taxes, which may be added at checkout.

Because each interview is a digital service delivered as soon as you begin it, your purchase and any used credits are non-refundable except (a) where a refund is required by applicable law, or (b) where we choose to provide one — for example, if a technical failure on our side prevented an interview from running or producing a feedback report. Unused credits that expire are not refundable or extendable.

Technical failures on our side. If a technical problem on our end stops a mock interview from running or from producing your feedback report, we’ll first try to recover and resume it. If we can’t, that interview won’t be counted against your purchase — the credit stays available so you can run it again.

To conduct the mock interview and produce your feedback, Piper records the audio of the conversation, including your voice, and creates a written transcript of it. By starting an interview, you consent to this recording and processing for the purpose of running your practice session and generating your report.

The audio is deleted after your feedback report is generated. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Make sure you’re in a setting where it’s appropriate for you to speak out loud and be recorded. Don’t bring third parties into the session or capture other people’s voices without their consent.

You agree not to:

• Use Piper for anything other than your own personal interview practice, or share, resell, or provide access to your account.
• Upload or submit content you don’t have the right to use, including job descriptions, resumes, or other materials that infringe someone else’s intellectual-property, confidentiality, or privacy rights.
• Use Piper to record or capture another person’s voice without their consent, or to harass, defraud, or harm anyone.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, probe, or interfere with the service or its underlying systems, or attempt to access another user’s data, except to the extent these restrictions are prohibited by law.
• Use bots, scripts, or other automated means to access the service, or attempt to circumvent usage limits, credit requirements, fraud controls, or security measures.
• Use Piper in violation of any applicable law or regulation.

You retain ownership of the job descriptions, resume content, recordings, transcripts, and other materials you provide to or generate with Piper (“Your Content”). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, transmit, and display Your Content as needed to provide and support the service to you and to enforce these Terms. The feedback report Piper generates for you is yours to keep and use.

We don’t use Your Content to train AI models. Aggregated and de-identified usage statistics that can’t reasonably be linked back to you may be used to operate and improve the service.

We retain all rights in Piper itself — the software, design, models, prompts, documentation, and trademarks. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of those rights to you.

Piper’s interview and feedback are produced by automated language models. They may be incomplete, inaccurate, or not suited to your particular situation, and you should use your own judgment before relying on them.

Our handling of personal information — including how we treat your audio, transcript, resume content, and feedback — is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.

Piper uses third-party providers for hosting, storage, voice transport, speech-to-text and text-to-speech, AI model inference, payments, and email. We choose these providers with reasonable care but aren’t responsible for outages, errors, or other issues caused by third-party services beyond our control.

We may suspend or terminate your access to Piper if you breach these Terms, if your use creates legal or security risk for us or other users, or if required by law. You may stop using Piper and close your account at any time by contacting us.

On termination, we will delete Your Content as described in the Privacy Policy, subject to limited retention required for legal, accounting, or security purposes. Unless required by law, fees already paid and any remaining or expired credits are not refundable on termination.

Piper is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising out of course of dealing or usage of trade.

We don’t warrant that Piper will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any output will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, or opportunities (including any job or offer), arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total cumulative liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the service in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Vantum and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any third-party claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to Your Content, your use of the service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property or confidential information.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the Effective Date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of Piper after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms (together with the Privacy Policy) are the entire agreement between you and us regarding Piper, and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right.

You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
